Wanted: YOU

You’ve never played a sport in your life.

You were born an athlete.

You feel fat.

You’ve played hockey.

You want to get in better shape.

You’ve figure skated.

Your idea of exercise is chewing gum.

You’ve speed skated.

You want to keep your @$$ from undergoing further expansion.

You run 10 km a day and wear sports socks with your dress shoes.

You’ve played ringette.

You have a pair of skates you haven’t touched in YEARS.

You’ve thought about team sports.

You breathe.

You’re at least one of these people. (If you’re reading this, I know you’re breathing so I get to be right, by default.) You’re looking for something new, fun, different. You want to make a bunch of great new friends. And whether you want to be pushed to new limits or just come out to have some fun, CCDD has something for you.

Still not sure?

Come to an open house. We’re having three of them:

August 12, August 19, August 26, 6-8 p.m. at Bell Town Dome (2915 Haughton Avenue).

Bring any kind of helmet, elbow pads, knee pads and wrist guards. Don’t have skates? No problem. We have skates. All you have to do is send a teeny little email to capitalcityderbydolls@gmail.com, tell us you’re into giving this whole derby thing a shot and we’ll take care of the rest.

Come to one open house, come to all three. Just give it a shot. What have you possibly got to lose?

Still not quite sold? Come to our bout. That’ll fix all your indecision. 😉

  1. […] I still have roller skates, I’m getting in better shape, I’m not a brand spanking new mom and learning to roller skate is on my life list – and now Ottawa’s newest league, the Capital City Derby Dolls, are hosting an open house. […]

  2. lethal says:

just wondering if it is possible in the derby world to belong to a league and be on another leagues travelling team?

    • Unfortunately, it’s not possible because it creates a conflict of interest. If the leagues’ teams ever faced off, you’d have information that would put one team at a disadvantage. If you wanted to come to some practices, that would be possible, but scrimmages wouldn’t be open to a skater competing with a different team.
